TURN IT UP
FOR ATOMBUZZ!
Sex Pistols
meets Motorhead meets The Clash all
wrapped into one, Crisis Intervention
Atombuzz's second album embraces good
old skool punk rock enthused with a
modern outlook.
Punk rock
is a fast moving hard edged style of
music and Atombuzz nail it right on the
head. If listening to boy bands produced
by Louis Walsh are your taste then
Atombuzz are not for you, if it is
Anarchy in the true sense of the word
and attitude is what your after then
turn up the volume and be prepared to
rock until you drop.
The lyrics
are typically frank and confrontational;
compared to the lyrics of other popular
music genres, they frequently comment on
social and political issues as well at
what is real. That is what music is all
about, an avenue to express feelings and
emotions as well as views.
The lyrics
of their songs are pretty clever when
you listen to them, yes there is an
element of humour there, but all the
songs are very cleverly written.
Looking at
some of the songs we start withChav
Scum, which has a fantastic guitar riff
and reference to Chavs and their teenage
mums, then we look at No
Fat Chix,
"Don't
wanna see no fat chix when i'm driving
my car, don't wanna see no fat chix when
i'm standing at the bar"
And not
forgetting the ones in Mcdonalds, it is
pure poetry.
S.T.D is
about a teenage dancer, great stuff, one
of my favourites in fact, and again pure
poetry.
"Teenage
dancer, dancing on his own, with 1000
kids on Myspace but he is on the floor
alone"
All these
friends he has on these social
networking sites yet he is on his own.
Other songs
on the album include A.D.
Absurdo, like a supanova, like a
mushroom cloud, great stuff and there is Reprise about
showing no remorse, and that it is far
too light to sleep, then getting on the
telly for you attention is the title
track Crisis
Intervention.
Drafted is
about joining the army and fighting for
your country, and if you think the wars
are illegal our guys and girls are
currently in and that they should not be
there, the fact is they are and they
have to get on with it, like it or not,
it is their job.
Moving on
we come to Johnny
Be Badd, no it is not a take on Johnny
Be Goode, it has a hint of the style of
Pretty Vacant by The Sex Pistols to me.
"Wind up
Johnny, watch him go, watch him now he's
gonna blow"
A couple of
times during this song the tempo changes
fantastically into Go Johnny Go Johnny
Go, but not in the style of Chuck Berry.
Talking of
tempo change, the only slow song on the
album is the cracking track called Man
Beaver, which talks about a husband
cowing from his wife, in fact the
opposite of a wife beater. When the
opening bars start you'd be forgiven for
thinking you are listening to Iggy Pops
The Passenger, which soon changes and
the result a great track that would
achieve great commercial success.
The album
finishes with a Nervous
Breakdown, and you won't have one of
those with Crisis Intervention, the only
way you will go crazy is with
excitement, as this album gives just
that.
Real raw
talent is what comes to mind when
listening to the album and some pretty
terrific guitar riffs as well the
amazing beats of the drumming and the
electrifying vocals.
Crisis
Intervention brings to the music
industry a modern twist on Punk Rock and
I'd like to sum up with this quote:
As a Clash
associate describes singer Joe
Strummer's outlook,
